I have finally found a few minutes to write. I have also posted photos at the very bottom so scroll down, I'm still trying to figure out how to get them in text. Well this week marks my first week of school. To tell you the truth, it hasn't been great. I was supposed to have Spanish lecture Monday and the lab and seminar on Tuesday, but that class doesn't start until next week apparently. This I only found out after going to class and waiting around forever. Then I had Writing in Britain After 1945, where we spent the entire class deciding who would be in what seminar. I got the worst schedule. There are two campuses and most of my classes, including this one were on the other campus (where I don't live). You have to walk fifteen minutes to the shuttle, then shuttle over there, then find your class. When I found out I had woken up early two days and gone over there for no reason, I was unimpressed with this school system. In my Writing in Britain class I got the worst timeslots because the lecture is from 9-10am but then I have to wait around that campus for two hours and my seminar from 12-1. Today I got up at eight after a fun night of crepe eating and went to class only to realize that the teacher was sick and class was canceled as well. Someone told me I had to come back at two for the "practical" though which appears to be the English version of science labs, and that I should look and see what group I was in on this online thing called "studynet." I looked and I wasn't on any of the lists so I emailed the teacher. I woke up ready to go to this alleged practical and there was and email from the teacher saying we don't start for a little bit. So far my classes have ended up being a huge BUST.
However, last night was really fun. I wish people at San Jose State were like the people here. Yes, they do their fair share of drinking, but there are also other things to do. Plans for the future: several of us are going to do our weekly shopping together, then that night get together and each make a dish and have dinner together. Last night, for instance, several of the boys met exchange students from France. The girls said they could make crepes. Oh and they did, about 300 of them and everyone brought their own jam. In the small small kitchens they have here, we fit about 25 people. We listened to music, talked, and ate. It was a fun time. Because we don't have very much class, and unlike San Jose State where a lot of people commute, for the most part everyone lives in the same few buildings on campus so it is really easy to call someone and organize something. Also, it's pretty likely that they aren't doing anything either.
I'm really excited. This weekend we are going to London. We wanted to experience the nightlife there, since the town of Hatfield that I'm in isn't that exciting. It would be like going from Nampa to visit Boise's downtown (WAY BETTER) haha. A girlfriend of mine organized it. We will be going early Saturday and seeing some of the sights we didn't see last Sunday, which will me a lot of walking which I enjoy. Then we will go to a nightclub or something. It will be my first experience staying at a hostle that night. However, I'm easing into it because there are so many of us going that we just got two rooms so at least I'll be staying in rooms with other people I know. For anyone that has seen the movie Hostle (if you haven't don't it is SO scary), pray for me. No, I trust that hostles are actually very safe, especially when you are traveling in a huge group. Yay I'm overjoyed, my first real clothes-in-a-backpack-staying-in-a-nasty-hostle experience! Then Sunday is Chinese New Year. We want to go to the Chinatown part of London for the celebration, then return Sunday night.
